COVID-19 was again rife in Scotland when the 69th open show of the Edinburgh Budgerigar Society was held, together with a worrying increase in the rate of avian bird flu present in the wild bird population. It meant there was always a risk of last-minute cancellation to the show. The usual Covid-19 precautions were put in place, from a plastic screen to protect the show secretary to readily available plastic gloves, masks and hand sanitisers.
