GAA Classic Cars Auctions

There’s no such thing as the dog days of summer within the collector car auction scene. While some of the top-tier houses catch their breath between notable East and West Coast events, others offer a tantalizing array of vintage steeds across the country. Among them is GAA Classic Cars Auction, which hosted its annual mid-summer sale on July 21-23 at its dedicated facility in Greensboro, North Carolina.

This sale has been a regular part of GAA’s calendar in recent years, always featuring a catalog brimming with 600-plus cars trucks and motorcycles of all types, as well as a smattering of automobilia. The July auction served — by our count — 619 lots for both onsite and remote bidders spread over three days. There was quite literally something for everyone.

Day two welcomed most of the star lots consigned to the sale, and they didn’t disappoint. Leading the way — though not unexpectedly — were a host of American performance cars. First among them was a 4,500-mile, 2005 Ford GT (one of only 96 painted yellow) that commanded $435,000 (all listed sale prices include a buyer’s premium). It was followed by a 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda that sold for $205,000, and a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette restomod that brought $180,000.
