Sitting in a hospital room, I rubbed my belly and sighed.
I was 22 weeks pregnant and, after three hours, doctors were still looking at my scan results.
Then, a doctor came in. ‘The baby has a significant defect – it’s likely to be fatal, either during pregnancy or after she’s born,’ he explained.
‘No…’ I gasped.
He told me my baby girl had a diaphragmatic hernia – a hole in the diaphragm which was causing the organs in her abdomen to move into her chest.
He recommended terminating.
