HAVING smashed every record in the show hunter book, the living legend that is View Point (Sean) bowed out at the very top. He grew in stature with each effortless stride and oozed presence from every pore to eclipse 10 other worthy champions and land his second consecutive Supreme Products supreme horse of the year title, partnered by Robert Walker.
Val Turner, FEI showjumping judge, former Pony Club district commissioner and master of hounds, was in complete agreement with her co-judge, eventing and racing enthusiast Marcus Capel, the current CEO of the Pony Club.
“This horse is a real eyeful,” she said. “It's outstanding in its type and moves like a dream.”
There was not a dry eye in the house when, after receiving his richly-deserved trophy, an equally emotional Robert jumped off, folded his stirrups over the saddle and led the magnificent bay down the centre line under the spotlight for one final time.
