‘I created a harmonious home with cosy neutrals’

‘I loved my previous house – a tiny, I one-bedroom cottage – but then I met Dave and we decided to buy a bigger place together,’ says Amanda. ‘We wanted an older, three-bedroom property with a bit of a garden, and that needed a lot of work as we're not afraid to get stuck in and can always see past a dated interior.’

Eventually, the couple found a Victorian, end-of-terrace home in the West Yorkshire town of Liversedge and managed to secure it for a good price. ‘An elderly lady lived here previously, so it was very dated and needed totally gutting,’ says Amanda. ‘We loved the room sizes and traditional features like the coving, picture rail, ceiling rose and deep skirting boards in the living room. The third bedroom was also a good size, rather than a typical box room.’
