With a father who was a world champion on two wheels, a works rider at various times for Benelli, Bianchi, Moto-Guzzi, Gilera, Mondial and MV Agusta, then team manager for MV, as well as being a very capable driver in four-wheel Grands Prix, it was almost inevitable that Alberto Pagani would be drawn toward racing.
The fact that his father was a wealthy man, well connected within the Italian motorcycle industry, might have helped initially in his racing career, but without talent and application the son would not have risen very far in the fiercely competitive world of the grands prix.
