Many triathletes only really consider their gut when they get a stitch, or have ‘gut’ issues during endurance races, but a healthy gut can help you stay strong. So what is the gut exactly?

Well, it’s an amazing and complex environment, containing trillions of bacteria, yeast and viruses, commonly called the ‘gut flora’ or the ‘microbiome’. Some of these bacteria are good, some bad, but we need a healthy balance of the two. Luckily we can influence our microbiome simply by feeding it effectively with a combination of pre-and probiotic foods.
