A Carbohydrates are the main fuel source for triathlon performance. However, whether or not a teenage triathlete should consume carbs during the race really depends on the race duration.
For short races such as sprint and super-sprint races, there is rarely any need to eat during the race. A carbohydrate mouth rinse (swirling a sports drink containing carbohydrates such as glucose in the mouth and spitting it out) or a small amount of carbohydrate in the form of a drink may benefit
