Most motorhomers appreciate the value of regular servicing but the cost (around £300 for the base vehicle and £200 for a habitation service) may put some people off. So why have a service?

In a nutshell, a timely service for a base vehicle and habitation area can catch issues before they become problematic or even dangerous. It is a legal requirement for a vehicle to be in a roadworthy condition; although there are no legal requirements for maintaining the habitation area of a motorhome, except when hiring out, poorly maintained gas and electrical systems can have tragic consequences.

Annual servicing will not only help keep you safe, but also maintain the value of your investment.

A full base vehicle and habitation service history will help with the resale value.

And there are, of course, the manufacturer's warranty conditions to consider for new motorhomes.

WARRANTY ISSUES

Both motorhome converter and base vehicle manufacturer will have terms and conditions regarding servicing as part of the warranty. Usually, a service will need to be undertaken at regular intervals in accordance with defined schedules and by approved agents.
