Here at DIRT ACTION, we're fortunate enough to have access to experts with a wide range of industry knowledge. For this launch we had myself, the pro racer with a couple of years testing under my belt, and Matty Warren from MCD, suspension technician and average club day/local rider. So not only did we cover both ends of the field, but there is also a heavier focus on suspension in this feature.
TEST RIDER: MAT MCENTEE — PRO LEVEL
I have done more than a few laps at Appin over the years, so it's safe to say I know the track inside-out. So when I was called up to be a part of the Honda 2023 CRF450R launch day, I was beyond pumped.
Having that knowledge of Appin's racetrack, specifically the Bellbird Circuit, meant that I had a unique, in-depth feel on where the 450 works and where it doesn't. I could also tell if the changes Honda made were a noticeable improvement and if there's anything that could do with a touch-up in the future, including the little tweaks to get the bike that little bit better in standard form.
New for 2023, Honda has changed the rigidity of the frame, including thickening the aluminium in some points.
