One of the hardest things about being disabled and a disability activist is seeming like the fun police when I call in people for using disability slurs.

Every time I talk to a friend about them using ableist language, I take a deep breath and hope that I don’t lose them. I have lost countless friends when I’ve asked them not to use a slur. Celebrities I admire have unfollowed me,
