Pacifica Quartet

Austin Hartman (violin): I have three boys, so finding a quiet moment to do my own listening is a premium. When I do, it’s very practical, so I enjoy absorbing the music of composers we have programmed. I was pleasantly surprised to find a short piece by Joseph Schwantner for violin, vocal quartet and glass harmonica. Called Daydreams, it’s inspired by a portrait of the composer’s young mother and grandparents. It’s beautiful and evocative.
