Nickel 3-Cent Pieces Easily Forgotten

When it comes to classic series of United States coinage and small change, there are plenty that seem to draw the collecting community to them. Indian Head cents and Buffalo nickels are two prime examples, although there are certainly more. Yet one that seems to slip by many of us, with the possible exception of the type set collector, is the nickel 3-cent pieces of the late eighteen hundreds.
