Stacking up plates of half-eaten pies, I made my way to the staff kitchen. ‘We should go out for drinks once our shift is over,’ I enthused.
In October 2021, aged 22, I was the manager at my local pub. I was also single after ending an on-off relationship.
Between 70 hour weeks at the pub, gym sessions, and a vibrant social life, I was barely home.
But I loved living with my parents, Sally and Ian, and my brother James, then 16.
In November, I was eyeing a new colleague
