Specialized S-Works 7 Lace £300

The S-Works Lace is the S-Works shoe line-up and is currently on sale via Specialized’s website at £179. Cheaper maybe, but the upper feels very similar to the Dyneema fabric used across the range of S-Works shoes – supple and pliable for high levels of comfort – and the carbon sole is the same FACT Powerline that’s super-stiff and doesn’t flex at all.

It’s the closure system that’s cheaper and, what’s more, the laces’ 12-point tensioning allows for far more adjustability than the usual two Boa dials. That said, on-the-fly adjustment is obviously a complete non-starter.
