MY FAMILY loves to take pictures. We have album upon album of photographs taken over the decades when it was all just film. Of course, we now have plenty of digital images too but I love looking at those old film photos.
I try to imagine what was really happening in the lives of the people in them at the time they were taken. What were they thinking? What were they feeling? What were their hopes and dreams?
The ones I love most are the ones where the subjects are caught unawares looking at someone they love or laughing with unadulterated joy. My dad teasing my mom, my sister delighted she’d taken my toys, my brother trying to sneak a piece of cake. Even though I can’t always remember that day, the emotion evident in the images makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I hope your festive season is
