Foxing in wet weather
PEST CONTROL
Is there any point in foxing in wet or windy conditions? My friend says you should go out whatever the weather.
First, I’d say it depends if you’re going out simply to keep on top of numbers or if you’re out after a problem fox. If you’re after a problem fox then, yes, I would be out whatever the weather even though you may be up against it. If it’s lashing it down with rain or extremely windy, you are likely to struggle to actually see anything through the rain or fog unless you have a thermal scope. Also, strong winds might make accurate and humane shooting difficult, so should be avoided if that is likely to be the case.
I generally find foxes don’t like rough weather any more than we do and will often seek cover or
