Imitation GAME

When they arrived at Stretton Old Hall, just south of Chester, in 2012, Ken Roscoe and his husband, David Bradley, inherited a five-acre plot comprising little more than a sunken tennis court and a vast expanse of lawn. A decade on and the contemporary garden that they have created is now an award-winning garden for all seasons.

In planning the garden, Ken drew on his skills and experience as an architectural designer. An immediate priority was to impose more structure on the open space. Taking the sitting room of the L-shaped house as the starting point, he created a line of symmetry with a long path leading down through the garden.
