What will your baby do, and how best can you care for her in the 10 days following birth? And, just as important – what is happening to you right now, and how can you nurture yourself during this somewhat daunting time?
DAY 1
After birth, your baby will receive an Apgar score to test her state of health and vital signs, and then snuggle up to you for some bonding time and possibly a first attempt at breastfeeding. (The Apgar test is given to newborns soon after birth to check a baby’s heart rate, muscle tone, and other signs to see if extra medical care or emergency care is needed. The test is usually given twice: once at 1
