While routinely moving our bodies is a key element in ways yoga improves the ecosystem of factors that help us to build our mental and emotional wellbeing, it is rarely employed as an intervention by mental health professionals.
A new report* by the John W. Brick Mental Health Foundation (JWB) called Move Your Mental Health examines over three decades of research on how various forms of exercise and body movement impacts mental health, synthesising over 1600 peer-reviewed scientific studies on how exercise affects brain function and mental health. This report concludes that
