Billed as being “on the cusp sees married couple/co-directors Devorah Baum and Josh Appignanesi again turn the camera on their own relationship (after 2016's ). Baum has gone to New York with their two kids to promote her book ; Appignanesi is filming the trip and commenting on his own emotional state. We're frequently reminded of the artificiality of the filmmaking process and that the pair are adopting on-screen personas, which makes for an experience both amusing and wearying.
