STANDMOUNT LOUDSPEAKERS
Revival Audio is a new loudspeaker maker, from picturesque Mulhouse, Alsace, France. Its co-founders are industry stalwarts, and they are using technologies which they believe will allow it to find a place among the great many rival established speaker brands. The company’s only two models for now are the Atalante 3 standmount speakers reviewed here, and the significantly larger Atalante 5 floorstanders, at precisely double the price. Both are fully designed, engineered and assembled in France using all ‘in-house manufactured’ components: “We DO NOT buy off the shelves!”, declares the company. So what’s the story, and how’s the sound?
Design & features
It’s pleasing that Revival has not (yet) felt forced to follow the common trend to décor-friendly slim towers. We significantly underestimated the size of the Atalante 3 standmounter from the initial pictures we had seen. It has a seven-inch woofer, and is a substantial 38cm high, 24cm wide. The $8000 Atalante 5 uses a chunky 12-incher, with plenty of space around it on the baffle, so
