STEREO LOUDSPEAKERS
When considering Richter, there’s a great temptation to delve back into the history of this Australian company, started back in 1986 under talented speaker designer Ralph Waters. The company record since then has been consistently strong — Richter’s Wizard speakers, for example, are now in their sixth generation, and claim the record for being the world’s best-selling Australian-designed loudspeakers.
But to focus on the history would be to underplay the company’s current success, with the Series 6 range of loudspeakers.
“It’s been Richter’s most successful range to date,” Richter’s Managing Director Brian Rodgers tells us, “and it just gets better. There are more products on the drawing board, some extremely close and planned for 2022 [see overleaf]. We’re liking that people are liking the range, we’ve just made our first sales with a new distributor in India, and now we’re taking Richter into more practical places where consumers are looking to buy better quality products.”
The Series 6 range of loudspeakers as it stands is well-structured, though the product names do mix their mythologies with a Marvel-like abandon. There’s one Norse God, two wizards (one generic, one specified), and finally a mischievous demon, this last ‘Harlequin’ best recognised today with his Italian chequered costume.
As loudspeakers, however, the progression is clear — one standmount design, twomark V range, while the engineering, the crossover work and the driver sign-off is all the work of Richter’s senior engineer, the legendary Dr. Martin Gosnell.
