I CAN’T imagine what it must be like to open every part of your life to strangers online as so many people do on YouTube and increasingly on TikTok. Perhaps it’s because I’m very much an introvert and quite shy but I can’t get my head around it.

I read the story about Nicholas Perry on page 88 and I was gobsmacked. He’s gained nearly 90kg over the years because of extreme eating for his YouTube channels.

Yes, you read that correctly – nearly 90kg!

He’s made a fortune out of it but he’s clearly not a happy man. The toll on his body is hectic and dangerous and it looks like it’s just as bad for his mind and his relationships.

Equally fascinating are the people who watch him. I wonder what viewers get out of seeing someone who appears to be wilfully damaging his body and mind.
