BEAUTIFUL BALTIMORE

BEHIND THE QUILT

BABY STEPS

“I have had a long love affair with Baltimore Album quilts; I can’t explain how much I like them! There were some hanging the first time I saw quilts displayed during a student trip to New York. We were a group of silversmithing and jewellery students heading for an exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design. We passed through a quilt exhibition hanging high above our heads, and I was mesmerised; the red and green Baltimore quilts had me hooked from that moment. How many have I made? None, before this one! Ever the optimist and thinking I’d have time to hand sew a quilt when I had just had a baby, I started one, but it became a cushion.

“ love to offer gifts that inspire and encourage, and so I designed some Baltimore Album templates to optimistically encourage you to start building those blocks. One thing I have learnt over the years in quilt making is that beautiful things come together one stitch at. So, decide which technique is your favourite and enjoy making your own version of a Baltimore Album quilt.”
