We’re enjoying this season of the Throw Down so far and have been very impressed by the skills of this year’s participants. It’s always so sad when one of the potters leaves, but everyone says it’s been an incredible experience that has taught them so much and led to them forging life-long friendships with the other participants. Saying goodbye: Vithu
Sadly, Vithu lost a side plate during the glaze firing, and his colours looked a little heavy. He was the first to leave the pottery.
When did you start pottery, and who inspired you?
I did one module in college and really enjoyed it, so when I decided to get back into education, I decided to pursue it. My college tutor was my greatest inspiration.
Where do you make your pottery?
I have a studio space.
Do you throw, hand-build, or both?
Throwing is more relaxing for me.
Pottery is usually a relaxing and lengthy process, so what was it like to be working under quite strict time constraints that first week?
Very hard!

Biggest personal disaster for you making something, and did it hit your bucket of doom?
I was taught that if you can make it once, you can make it again. That applies strictly on the making side, and so I have thrown away quite a lot of my work.
