HEAVY PARTICLE challenges our model of physics

The ‘standard model’ is the Bible of physics, explaining the particles of which atoms are made up and the forces that control them. All known material in the universe – from remote galaxies to the amino acids in your body – are described by the standard model.

It might, indeed, be considered the world’s most successful scientific theory. It has allowed us to develop all our modern electronics, and far more.

Despite its success, however, the theory has flaws. For instance, it does not explain gravity.
