I am good-looking in a slightly unusual, rugged kind of way. I am witty and cultured, well-dressed, look good in almost anything, and am in reasonably good shape considering that my fortieth birthday is rapidly disappearing in the rear-view mirror. I’d like to believe that all of these statements are accurate, but the truth is that the only thing I really look good in is the dark, and I’m balding, slightly pudgy and rather clumsy most of the time. The rest of the time I’m asleep.
