Novice delivery trip
Last week, I found myself on a 12-hour night bus to Dundee, wondering about my life choices. Sitting at my desk at my stuffy office job in Trafalgar Square earlier that day, I had received a message from a friend who needed a crew to sail his yacht from Dundee to Portsmouth. He knew I had no experience but asked would I consider helping, and did I have any friends who could likewise help.
A light went off in my head and I realised, life was too short for tech sales. I quit my job, called a friend of mine called Luke who also jumped at the idea, and headed for the bus station.
On the way I stopped for a final pint in Hackney and met another friend, Orla. So excited was I about my trip I spilled out all the details, and after I finished talking she decided to join as well. We could all hear the same spontaneous music playing in our ears, eager to be free of monotony and experience a new kind of living.
