THE SLIPPERY Indonesian track’s surface, even tricky on the racing line at times, didn’t stop a weekend of drama, unlikely outcomes and tales of the very much expected. Like Alvaro Bautista (Aruba Ducati) being almost completely dominant again, the Kawasakis not making a miracle one-weekend turnaround after Phillip Island’s reversals, or front tyre wear rates determining almost everybody’s eventual race outcomes.
But, again, as Superpole qualifying outlined, you can only keep a talent like Toprak Razgatlioglu and his Pata Yamaha YZF-R1 down for so long before he battles back. On Saturday, all that push and talent was translated to Superpole, his second pole position in as many weeks saw him just edge out his teammate, and there would be a very similar story in the first 22-lap race.
