95 Le Macchiole 2021 Paleo (Toscana). Opening aromas of rubber bouncy ball and green apple on the nose belie the seriousness of this Chardonnay. It subsequently suggests salted lemon peel, damp cobblestones and more lush tree fruit and spices. 93 San Felice 2020 Ancherona Chardonnay (Toscana). Hot pavement, lemon and the salty grit of seashells make for a warm, spicy nose on this wine. That remains the rule for the palate, which stays reduced and citrusy. Mouthfilling and savory, this Chardonnay lingers with more citrus, flowers and crushed rock on a long finish.
