GLASGOW
MARCH 24
WHOLE SHOW
THIS Kynoch promotion had the production of a larger event and maintained that feel, with the opposition stiffening as the bill progressed.
Top of the bill was Plean’s against Nicaragua’s , whose record suggested a stern test for the home fighter. Casey pushed the action in the first and that pattern continued into the second until, suddenly, following yet another flurry from Casey, the Nicaraguan screamed a war cry and went straight after the Scot with a barrage of concussive blows, scoring a heavy knockdown. Up, but on unsteady legs, Casey took more punishment before going to his knees. Referee Kevin McIntyre had a long look this time before allowing him to continue. Mendoza then unloaded until Casey went down for the third and final time, the referee calling a stop at 1-38. Although shortly back up to the relief and applause of all in attendance this could prove quite a setback for Casey.
