NORTH

BASS WEEK

5-13 August, Bassenthwaite SC, Bassenthwaite Lake, Cumbria

OVERVIEW: Nine days of racing in the beautiful Lake District, with a great family environment in a setting of unrivalled natural beauty. Camping available on site and full social programme for all ages. A mix of fleet and handicap racing, with some races run as a series while others are one-offs. Excellent value summer race week and one of the most popular open events in the north of England.

FILEY REGATTA

20-21 May, Filey SC, Arndale Way, Filey, North Yorkshire

OVERVIEW: Sailing in beautiful Filey Bay. A total of six races, open to all dinghies PY1250 and below, with trapezoid courses for Fast, Medium and Slow handicap fleets run by national race officers. Saturday night social and camping available.

ROYAL YORKSHIRE YACHT CLUB’S 165TH ANNUAL REGATTA

6-12 August, The Royal Yorkshire YC, Bridlington, East Yorkshire

OVERVIEW: Six days of racing and a ‘fun’ day in and around the beautiful Bridlington Bay, with classes for IRC Cruisers, YTC Cruisers, Yorkshire One Designs and modern dayboats/sportsboats, supported by a varied and interesting social programme.

INSIDER TIP: Book early, accommodation may be available at the club and pitches may be available in the members’ camping area.

ULLSWATER YACHT CLUB HOLIDAY WEEK

7-11 August, Ullswater YC, Pooley Bridge, Cumbria

OVERVIEW:: A combination of racing, children’s activities, tuition, leisure sailing and family fun on and off the water, as well as daytime and evening entertainment and catering. A packed five-day programme includes a kids’ club and sailing lessons on a morning and racing on an afternoon. Also on offer are opportunities to explore the lake with the leisure sailing group and fun water activities for everyone. Tents and campervans (sorry no caravans) are welcome on the club’s ‘Birkett field’ with its stunning lake views.

INSIDER TIP: Make the most of what beautiful Ullswater has to offer – take to the hills, go for a ride on an iconic Ullswater Steamer, or simply relax and enjoy the stunning scenery.

ALDEBURGH YC REGATTAS

6-10 August, Aldeburgh Junior & Youth Regatta; 13-18 August, Aldeburgh Regatta, Aldeburgh YC, Suffolk

OVERVIEW: Located between the sea and the River Alde, one mile south of the historic town of Aldeburgh - Junior & Youth Regatta is for children and young people up to the age of 21, all classes welcome; Aldeburgh Regatta then follows with a warm welcome for dinghies, keelboats and cruisers.

BRANCASTER STAITHE SAILING WEEK

7-11 August, Brancaster Staithe SC, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk

Brancaster Sailing Week is a multi-class open regatta with daily races at sea for senior fleets and in the harbour for junior fleets.
