Rare wader does well in 2022

STONE-CURLEWS ARE MAKING a triumphant comeback across southern England and East Anglia, with record numbers found on RSPB nature reserves over spring and summer last year.

This rare grasslanddwelling species () migrates to British shoresyoung. It had been in steep decline due to loss of habitat in its favoured breeding sites because of changes to agriculture. But since the 1980s die charity has been working with farmers, landowners and odrer partners to restore and protect suitable nesting sites in Norfolk, Suffolk and areas of Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
