Makeover for Eastleigh Class 07

ARLINGTON Fleet Services completed a bodywork overhaul on resident Class 07 pilot No. 07007 in early March. The much-needed work began late last year, with repairs undertaken on corroded areas. Following the completion of this work, a fresh coat of BR blue was applied, the locomotive’s first repaint since 2007. The Ruston & Hornsby machine has reverted to its pre-TOPS identity of No. 2991 upon completion.

The finishing touch came on March 14 when the shunter was named in a surprise ceremony paying tribute to Bruce Knights whose vision saw Eastleigh Works reopened and grow under Knights Rail Services until Arlington assumed full control of the site. Until now, the
