The Annual Makena Landing Kayak Tournament

I was so stoked to enter the annual Mākena Landing Kayak Fishing Tournament this October and to be able to compete with the men. Yes, I opted to compete with the guys and requested that tournament organizer Tai Over remove the Wahine Division, in which I placed third in back in 2020. I told him that it’s all about catching the biggest fish and may the best man or woman angler win. Unlike tennis or basketball, fishing is a sport that provides an even playing field, fish don’t know who is at the other end of the line.

Here’s my backstory and how I got into kayak fishing: Three years ago, before I started kayak fishing, I attended the award ceremony of the Makena Landing Kayak Fishing Tournament because I was interested in learning about the kayak fishing scene.
