THE 2023 breeding season is now underway, with all my own pairs of softbills paired up and in their own separate aviaries. I am probably starting with the smallest number of softbills in my 40 years of keeping birds. This is down to a combination of costs and lack of availability, as a result of which I have had a rethink.
