I’m going to kick off this month with some potentially patronising home truth-telling, so apologies in advance. It’s not so much addressing the elephant in the cybersecurity room, but rather the chicken: Chicken Licken. You know, the fictional little chick who wonders if the sky is falling after something drops on her head.

This tale sums up so much about cybersecurity messaging for me. For most people, most of the time, the sky is not falling. Your laptop isn’t going to get hacked on the train if you don’t use a VPN. Nor is anyone going to take photographs of your fingerprints to create a latex copy so they can unlock your phone or laptop. Could these things happen? Sure. Are they likely to happen to you? Probably not.
