Salmon fishing questions – unsolved mysteries of the runs by West Country, 9 July 1938

I DO NOT think anyone ever summed up the salmon more accurately or concisely than Chaytor when he remarked, “One thing you may be sure of about a salmon; you never can tell either what he will do or when he will do it.” One has only to arrive at what seems a definite conclusion about the fish for something to happen that upsets all one’s preconceived ideas.
