Emily clutched the steering wheel and peered through her windscreen. The fog in the valley was so thick she could barely see anything despite having the headlights on.

She inched the car forward, then felt a sharp bump.

‘No!’ She banged her hands on the wheel. Why, today of all days, when she was already running late?

She got out just as the owner of the car in front got out too.
