FOR PARALYMPIC RIDERS living with a variety of physical challenges being safe in the saddle is the number one priority. Having a horse who is calm, therefore, and can cope in the most atmospheric of environments is something that multi-medalled Paralympian Natasha Baker works hard to achieve.

It was with Cabral (aka JP) that Natasha earned her largest medal haul, netting 11 golds over the years, but despite their success, Natasha admits to often having struggled with JP's behaviour. It was this that set her on a journey to find a way to help her horses overcome their fears in the ring.

“JP was a calm and sensible horse, but as my career developed and the shows got bigger and more atmospheric he became very spooky and sensitive, which took some managing,” says Natasha. “In 2018, my next top horse, Mount St John Diva Dannebrog (Diva), got a fright in the ring at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in 2018 and bucked me off, which was totally unexpected and
