Not all of January’s auction activity takes place in Scottsdale proper. Veteran bidders and sellers alike are keenly aware that just east of the hustle and bustle of the famed desert city is Fort McDowell, home of the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort. During the latter half of Auction Week though, the casino plays host to the annual two-day festival of gavel action that is MAG Auctions — MAG an acronym for Motorsport Auction Group.
MAG’s 2023 sale, held January 27-28, offered 370 vehicles from all points of interest — almost 100 more than last year’s auction — in addition to 95 lots of automotive themed memorabilia. As MAG is the other “volume” seller of collectible cars, trucks, and motorcycles in town, this total lot count might seem a little lean, but that doesn’t mean it lacked substance. Quality restorations are typically here, intermingled with potential projects and exceptionally maintained cruisers. Deals can be found in spades, too, but that doesn’t mean MAG is slacking when the stage lamps are illuminated; it works just as hard as any other outfit to produce results everyone can be happy with.
