uilt on the edge of a steep hill with 360-degree views overlooking the North Esk River just outside Launceston, Riverstone is not your typical country home. Without any shelter from neighbouring buildings, the site was exposed on all sides, so the roof was built to act as a windbreak. Enclosed private spaces such as bedrooms block the prevailing winds, while a north-facing protected outdoor space captures the sun throughout the day. With the building wrapping around this courtyard, the design team at Cumulus managed to Awards 2022. Photography by Anjie Blair.
