Great story: “I Saved My Own Life” (NZWW, June 5). I enjoyed reading about volunteer firefighter Thomas Hewitt, who survived after severing his femoral artery by applying the skills he had learned in the fire brigade. Coolheaded Thomas was able to control his adrenaline rush and calmly set about getting the help he needed.
