Three new BLS tours

THREE new railtours running in a two-week period have been announced by the Branch Line Society (BLS).

The first offering is the ‘Sevington Shoeboxes’ on June 11, an unusual loco-hauled one-way excursion, raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society, as part of GB Railfreight’s 2023 fund-raising programme.

With a leisurely start from Tonbridge at 10.45, the train will run via Paddock Wood for another pick-up at Ashford International before running forward to the Sevington loop and reversing to take the through line at Maidstone East and via Swanley and Kent House to Clapham Junction where another pick-up is made.

Next, the train makes an anti-clockwise circuit of west and north London to access the East Coast Main Line, running north to Peterborough (set down) and then via Grantham to Nottingham where the tour terminates.
