When Australian travel influencer Lauren Bullen decided to make Bali her permanent residence after renting villas on the island for two years, her and ex-partner Jack Morris began looking at properties to buy. “With the price of rent in Bali, we found it could be a great investment,” she tells us.
After viewing numerous properties, they soon realised that their perfect home didn’t already exist. “There were so many things we’d want to change to every one we saw.” And so, in 2018, after meeting a contractor who had secured a plot of land in Canggu – a five-minute scooter ride from the beach on the south coast – they signed a contract and began building their dream home from scratch, one week later. “It was a pretty spontaneous decision,” says Lauren.
