Editor's Note
For some, autumn is the start of sweater weather. For others, it's pumpkin spice season. For gardeners, autumn might be tomato-canning time. For sports enthusiasts, it's all about football and tailgating. Whatever autumn means, we have cozy autumn-infused homes to inspire your own decorating. I love how the three pumpkins look in Sarah and John Frazee's white cabinet on page 70. It reminds me to put some funky pumpkins in unexpected places in my own home. I remember years ago when we only had the standard orange pumpkins for decorating. Now, it's so fun to have such varied options, especially those bumpy gray ones, which I absolutely love. And oh, the staircase in Kira and Joe Turner's house on page 57. What a stunner! The next chance I get to remodel a home, I'm doing the stair railings just like this. Want more ideas for fall decorating? We have you covered! Check out “Autumn Glories” on page 20 for a bountiful bunch of seasonal displays filled with apples, pumpkins and mums. And for your front door, we have some gorgeous cool-weather wreaths created from dried naturals, flint corn and more in “Warm Welcomes,” starting on page 84. Of course, October brings Halloween, so for fans of this holiday, on page 102, we offer you “Fall Flip”—quick and easy displays that you can easily switch from autumn to Halloween and vice versa. And finally, a special treat in this issue. Have you been wanting to go to Waco, Texas, and check out all the hottest spots? Our “Weekend in Waco” article on page 32 gives you insider tips on where to go, what to look for, places to stay and more. Be sure to check it out to plan your next girls’ trip. So, grab a mug of your favorite fall drink and curl up in your coziest sweater to browse through everything we have to offer in this fun issue. Enjoy your autumn!
