ATMOSPHERE
THERE was little to suggest, during the see-saw early stages of the English bantamweight title clash between Stanford-le-Hope champion Jordan Purkiss and Bristol challenger Ashley Lane, that the bout was about to be turned on its head. That was exactly what happened, though, as on no fewer than three occasions during the third round, the champion found himself on the canvas. Though he somehow managed to make it through to the bell, it left him with a mighty hill to climb.
