Madam Kwee Ying from Titi, Negeri Sembilan is the one.
Her orchard covers about 4 acres land, mainly planted with Musang King variety, part of them is 101 variety. Around 2 acres half of the first half plot is flat land, while another 2 acres at the rear hillside is under development.
“Generally, durians planted on the flat lands are old trees, there are around 100 of them. On the hillside, there are about 60 young trees.”
Despite planting density on the hillside could be denser, Madam Kwee Ying did not simply increase the number of trees. This is because the orchard is managed by her and her husband without other workers, hence she only planted a number which is considered manageable for them.
Actually, the orchard used to be a rubber estate. The couple slowly shifted to durian cultivation, day after day the estate finally turned into a durian orchard.
