Hiring a motorcycle should be the gateway to new travel; whether that is in faraway places exploring new cultures, or simply for convenience closer to home. It can, however, be fraught with pitfalls and disappointments, so how can you avoid them?

The first rule of hiring a bike is to have realistic expectations. You may be riding an immaculate one owner regularly polished machine, adorned with all the latest gadgets and gizmos, but that doesn’t mean when you hire the same model for your holiday you will get your bike with a foreign number plate.
